THE LORD MIGHTY IN BATTLE

Psalm
24:8….Who is the king of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in
battle

1
Samuel 4:1-11; Exodus 25:1….God gave the children of Israel the Ark of the
Covenant. Wherever the ark goes, there is victory; it was this ark that the
priest carried when they were to cross the Jordan, in Joshua 3 as soon as the
priest put their feet in the water; at the bank of the river Jordan; the water
cut into two. This ark of covenant, God gave Moses instruction on how to build
it. The ark of covenant is the ark of God; and nothing was inside except the 2
tablets containing the Ten Commandments; according to 2 Chronicles 5:10.
Wherever the ark goes, there was victory; but on this day, there was no
victory. The children of Israel were fighting the Philistines; the battle
became so terrible 4500 children of Israel had already been destroyed. They
went to take the Ark of the Covenant; and when they brought the ark; they
shouted to the extent that the earth shook; and the Philistines were afraid.
They said they do not want to become slaves to the Hebrews, so they fought and
unfortunately for the children of Israel, they were cut off; even with the Ark
of the Covenant. The Ark of the Covenant was captured the two sons of Eli that
were with the ark, also died. Something must have gone wrong; where was God on
that day? The God that we serve is the God mighty in battle; He has never been
defeated; and He can never be defeated. Nobody can defeat God; God is mighty,
powerful, great, marvelous, and glorious. When He utters His speech, the earth
melts; Psalm 68:1-2….Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered; let those who
hate Him flee before Him. As wax melts before the fire, let the wicked perish
at the present of God. God is a powerful God; Psalm 29:4 & 7….The voice of
the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. In verse 7, the
voice of the Lord divides the flames of fire. When He utters His speech, when
He utters His words, everything must bow. Psalm 24:7-8…..Lift up your heads, O
you gates! And be lifted up you everlasting doors and the king of glory shall
come in. who is the king of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty
in battle. God is mighty and awesome. Praise the Lord…..

There
is no one who trusts God that fails; Psalm 125:1….Those who trust the Lord are
like Mount Zion that cannot be moved, but abides forever. When you trust God
you can never be moved, you abide forever. Isaiah 40:8….The grass withers, the
flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. God abides forever, His
word abides forever; this God is too powerful; too awesome and too much. The
children of Israel brought the ark to the camp, but the Lord was not with the
ark; and they were defeated instead of been victorious. We have fought some
battles and we did not win, and we ask God why. Some people cry, criticize God
and even abandoned Him because they say “if you are God, why did you not do
this.” I have discovered that God is good and He answers prayers. When our
prayer is not answered, it does not mean that we prayed right; at times we pray
but we do not pray very well, and it is not the right thing the Lord asked us
to pray, that we pray.  James 4:2-3….You
did not receive because you did not ask. You ask and do not receive, because
you ask amiss….. At times we say “we asked”; but we did not ask well. Read
Isaiah 58:1-end… When the children of Israel were fasting; they were fasting
but the prayers were not answered; and they said “why did we fast?” God said
“that is not the kind of fasting that I requested from you, you prayed, you
fasted, but I did not hear; because you mouth is near to me but your heart is
far from me.”  Proverb 27:19….. As in
water face reflects face, so a man’s heart reveals the man. Proverb 23:7….As he
thinks in his heart, so is he….. Some people what their heart is, is what they
are.  At times we pray and say “God do
this for us”; but the Lord does not fight our battles. Why does He not fight
our battles? What has gone wrong that day that He did not fight their battles?
2 Chronicles 20:15….Listen to me O you Judah and all the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat! Do not be afraid or dismayed about this
multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. I have discovered that God
own the battles. 1 Samuel 17:47…. All the assembly will know that the Lord does
not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s…. God is the one
that fights the battle.

Why God does
not fight our battle?

1.      When we do not live right: When we do
not live right God will never be there, and will never fight the battle. Romans
6:1-2….What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
Certainly not! God will never allow that; Isaiah 59:1-2….Behold, the Lord’s
hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot
hear. But our iniquities have separated us from our God… So He will not hear,
something has separated us from God; when we do not live the right life, God is
not fighting the battle. God will never fight ungodly when our life also, is
ungodly. The bible made us understand that God is not partial. Romans
2:11-14…..God is not partial, those who sin without law will perish without
law, those who sin with law will be judged by law….. Galatians 2:6….for those
who seemed to be something—whatever they were it makes no difference to me; God
shows no personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something
added nothing to me. Luke 16:15….You are among those who justify yourselves
before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is
an abomination in the sight of God. I want to say to you God fights the battle,
He is a fighter, has never been defeated; but when we are defeated, it means
God is not in our midst. The God that brought plagues to Egypt, are you telling
me that He is not mighty? The plaque that no one has ever heard of; He turned
water to blood; who could do such a thing? He brought frogs out of the water,
and spread it into everybody’s house, including Pharaoh; are you telling me that
God is not great?  Exodus 8:17….The Lord
that brought lice into Egypt….. Are you telling me that, that God is not
mighty? He brought swam of flies, hail stone, killed all the livestock in
Egypt; brought darkness into the land of Egypt, and gave the children of Israel
the land of Goshen is He not a mighty God. While all the first born of animals
and human beings of Egypt were destroyed, there was no weeping in the camp of
the children of Israel and nobody died. The God that divided the red sea into two
let the children of Israel crossover and caused their enemies to sink at the
red sea. God is more than able to fight your battles but He wants you to live
right. Ecclesiastes 9:11….The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the
strong…… Battle is not to the strong, it is God that gives grace; it is the
grace of God not the amount  or number of
people that you know makes you to become what God created you to be; but the
amount of the grace He releases into your life. The grace of the Lord will
cover you today in the name of Jesus Christ….. Listen to me; God is mighty, He
is great, He is able, He wants to do it; He wants to move us to the next level;
He wants to stand for us, and He wants to stand against our enemies but He
wants us to live right; Praise the Lord….. The Ark of the Covenant was brought
to the camp through the hands of   Hophni
and Phinehas, the sons of Eli; and they were evil; and God can never be in the
camp of evil. 1 Samuel 2:12….The sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know
the Lord. How do you want the person that does not know God to bring the ark of
the covenant of God to fight? 1 Samuel 2:22….Eli heard everything his sons did
to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who assembled at the door of the
tabernacle of meeting.

 These are the people that
want to carry the glory of God, God is not a man; let every man be a liar and
let God be true…..Romans 3:4. God must be true all the time; He has shown us
the way to go. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14….Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter;
fear God and keep His ways, for this is man’s all. God will bring every work
into judgment, including every secret thing whether good or evil. If we can
live the right life, God is ready to fight our battles. 2 Chronicles
20:20….Hear me O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: believe in God and you
shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper. The Lord
says “we must keep His covenant”; Proverbs 16:7….When a man’s ways please the
Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Who are the people
disturbing you? They will be at peace with you because your God is a consuming
fire; your God is strong and mighty; mighty in battle. Praise the Lord…. Judges
16:20….Samson woke up from his sleep and said “I will go out as before, at
other times, and shake myself free!” but he did not know that the Lord had
departed from him. When a man is anointed; when a man receives the power of
God, everybody knows and sees it; because they will see the awesomeness of God
in that person’s life. When the Lord departs people will not know on time; when
the Lord departs people will still be talking about the past glory, and they
will not know that the Lord has departed. The Lord has departed from some
people long time ago, it is just the past glory, they have become story teller
because once upon a time their life has become a story; they are dead while
they are still alive because they have made God as nothing to their life. God
said “thou shall not” do you think God can fight that battle, He can never
fight it. Galatians 6:7….Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a
man sows, that he will reap. If anybody prays and say “my prayer is not
answered”; let us check him; he has to check himself as he is, as he thinks so
is he. God is a fighter, He can never loose a fight; He is a winner; God is a
consuming fire. Psalm 65:2….O you who hear prayer, to you all flesh will come.
God hears prayer whatever He says He will do that is what He does; but let us
live right. There must be difference between us and unbelievers, some people
are so religious but they are not spirit filled. John 4:23….The hour is coming
when the true worshipers will worship God in spirit and truth; for the father
is seeking such to worship Him. God is not seeking for religious; He is seeking
for people who will worship Him in spirit and truth; He is looking for true
worshiper of God. The ark got to the camp, they thought they will be
victorious, but they were defeated. What went wrong? Those who brought the ark
were not in God; they were corrupt. How will someone who does not know God, now
wants God to fight for him. Let us stop living double life, we need to change.
Every battle that is before you; my God will fight for you in the name of
Jesus……And what will make God not fight that battle you will not do it; if
you are doing it, you will quit today in the name of Jesus Christ…. Any way we
are taking that is not prosperous for us why can’t we quit it; when we are
doing something and we know that it is not working for us, let us quit.
Galatians 2:20….I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by
faith in the son of God who loved and gave Himself for me.

2.      We directly or indirectly fight our battles by ourselvesWhen
somebody offends you, and you say “it shall never be well with that person”;
you have already fought. Some people already fight the battle before they come
to the house of God; do not expect God to fight that battle anymore. When you
want to fight a battle leave God to fight for you. When David saw Saul, he had
every opportunity to cut his head off because Saul and all his soldiers were
sleeping, but he just cut the hem of his garment. The second time he took his
spear he said “God has delivered you into my hands; but I will not touch the
anointed of God.” Let God fight the battle; do not fight the battle by
yourself. Psalm 94:1….O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs– O God to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!
Nahum 1:2….The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries….Why can’t you allow
God to fight? Exodus 20:5-6….I God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of
the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations; verse 6, but
showing mercy unto everyone that keeps my commandments. God is a jealous god, a
fighter and a consuming fire. Deuteronomy 4:24….For the Lord your God is a
consuming fire, a jealous God. God is the avenger of His people, let God fight
for you; do not fight for yourself. By the time you fight for yourself He is
not there; David made Goliath understand that He is just representing God, but
not the person that is going to fight the battle.  Some people have taken drastic action, and
after that they say “God I commit this thing to your hands”; but God will not
answer because you have already fought for yourself. When God is fighting for
us, leave Him let him fight; 1 Samuel 17:45-47….You come to me with sword,
spear, and javelin but I come to you in the name of the Lord the God of Israel
whom you have defied. And the Lord will deliver you into my hands…. May God
fight for you; the Lord will fight for you in the name of Jesus Christ….

3.       We do not ask for direction: When we do not ask
God for direction, He does not fight. Whenever anyone does something to you,
you need to ask God “what do you want me to do?” David was a good example for
us; 2 Samuel 2:1…. It happened after this that David inquired of the Lord,
saying, “shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah?” and the Lord said “go
up.” David said “where shall I go up to?” God said “to Hebron” where God asked
him to go that is where he went. Psalm 32:8….I will instruct you and teach you
in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Let God direct us; God
does not fight our battle because we do not ask Him for direction. When we ask
God “how do you want me to handle this case” He will direct us. I have moved
with God and there is no turning back; I do not want to hear any contrary word
about God; God is good. Isaiah 45:9….. Woe to him who strives with his maker…… Jeremiah
12:1….Righteous are you, O Lord, when I plead with you….. When I plead with you
means when I contend with you; God can never make a mistake. Do not be in a
haste, the enemies may provoke you; they may try to humiliate you; frustrate
you, but do not let that level of frustration make you to make a mistake on how
to fight the battle; God knows how He is going to fight the battle for you. He is
the one that will fight the battles of your life; He will fight for you in the
name of Jesus…… God will clear all your enemies off; you will never be defeated
in the name of Jesus…. Those wicked people have already got their judgment Isaiah
57:21& Isaiah 48:21….There is no peace, says my God, “for the wicked.” They
will never have peace in Jesus name….. Those who are terrorizing your life and
troubling you; those who want to terminate and kill you; they will never have
peace in the name of Jesus Christ….. Psalm 9:17…. The wicked shall be turned
into hell, and all the nations that forget God. The judgment of God I declare
it on all your enemies today, in the name of Jesus Christ…. As they are frustrating
you God will frustrate them; as they are intimidating you God will intimidate
them; as they are hostile to you God will be hostile to them; in the name of
Jesus Christ….. Isaiah 49:25…..I will contend with him who contends with you……God
will contend with all your enemies; God will scatter them; God will destabilize
them; they will not have power over you; you will triumph over them in the name
of Jesus….. 1 Peter 3:13-14…..Who is he who will harm you if you become
followers of what is good? Even if you should suffer for righteousness sake you
are blessed…. When Jesus was transformed, He was transformed into the glory of
God Matthews 17:2….His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white
as the light. 2 Kings 2:10-13…..When Elijah was going, He came with a chariot
of fire and took Elijah up…. Anyone that is transformed will transform into the
glory of God.
