4/21/2013 TOWARDS THE
PROMISED LAND

Numbers
14:1-4…..So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the
people wept that night. And all the children of Israel complained against Moses
and Aaron, and the whole congregation……….

Everyone here has a promise
from God concerning his life; it does not matter what people are doing to you;
it does not matter what you are going through; it does not matter how hard or
fierce the world might be God has a promise for your life. The promise of God
must surely stand and it will stand in the name of Jesus Christ…. Genesis 12:1-5;
7….God told Father Abraham to move out of his country, from his father’s land;
from his father’s house; from his family. And the Lord said “go to a place I
will show you; I will make you a great nation; I will bless you, and I will make
your name great, and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you
and I will curse those who curse you; in you all the families of the earth
shall be blessed.” This is God, God never lies. In verse 4 Abraham departed,
went with Lot, his wife Sarah and his servants. In verse 7 the Lord made
Abraham to know that this land belongs to him and his descendants. There is a
promise of God for your life, and the Lord will fulfill that promise in the
name of Jesus. I want you to understand that God is faithful to His promise;
Hebrew 10:23…..Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,
for He who promised is faithful. God is faithful; 1 Thessalonians 5:24….He who
calls you is faithful, who also will do it. 2 Corinthians 1:18-20…..But as God
is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No. for the Son of God, Jesus
Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me Silvanus and Timothy – was not
Yes and NO, but in Him was Yes. For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and
in Him Amen…. God is a faithful God; 1 Corinthians 1:9……God is faithful…… many
people may not be faithful, but God is faithful. Numbers 23:19…..God is not a
man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent, Has He
spoken, and will He not make it good?

Isaiah 55:8-11….For My
thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways; for as the heavens
are higher than earth so are My ways higher than your ways. And My thoughts
than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and
do not return there……. The word of God for your life shall come to pass in the
name of Jesus Christ….. I say the promises of the Lord will come to pass in the
name of Jesus Christ…….. all the promises He has for your life shall come to
pass, It shall not return to Him void; when you are dealing with a faithful
person, your mind is at rest; when you are dealing with someone that has never
betrayed or denied you; has never disappointed you; your mind, your spirit;
your heart will be at rest. Every other person can fail, but God is faithful
and he never fails. Every other person can be destroyed, but God’s word can
never be destroyed; people can say yes today and no tomorrow. Romans 3:4……Let
God be true but every man a liar……. Every man will be a liar, but God will
always be true; He is a faithful God; whatever He has spoken to you that is
what He will do. There might be shaking; there might be turbulence; there might
be windstorm; but He will surely do it. Time cannot stop God from what He wants
to do, because He is the author of time; He is the one who makes things happen;
when He says a word, he fulfills His words, and He will fulfill His words in
the name of Jesus Christ……. Praise the name of the Lord with me…..

I want you to believe in
God; Jesus Christ said in John 14:1-4….. Let not your heart be troubled;
believe in God, and believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions;
if it were not so I would have told you…. There is no lie in Jesus Christ;
everything He said he will do it; and what He has promised you, He will do it in
the name of Jesus Christ…… I want your heart to be at rest, because He is a
faithful God. Psalm 22:3-5…..But you are holy, Enthroned in the praises of
Israel. Our fathers trusted in You; they trusteed, and you delivered them. They
cried to you, and were delivered….. God is god of deliverance; He delivers His
people and He will deliver you today
in
the name of Jesus Christ…… God spoke to the children of Israel; He said “I am
taking you because I have promised your fathers; I am taking you to the Promised
Land; the land flowing with milk and honey.” He sent Moses to them, to deliver
them; God is so faithful to His words. Most of us have had dreams of  good things; dreams of blessings and you say
when is it going to happen; God can never be queried or questioned; He is an
unquestionable God, He does it as He wishes because He is God. Romans 9:15……For
I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on
whomever I will have compassion. When He shows that mercy, nobody can challenge
Him; Praise the Lord…. Ecclesiasts 8:4….. Where the word of a king is, there is
power; And who may say to him, “what are you doing.” God will make a way for
you in the name of Jesus Christ……

THINGS
TO DO TO GET TO THE PROMISED LAND

1.
Do
not disdain yourself
: The first thing that you must do is to
have confidence in yourself. Moses sent 12 spies, 10 came with a bad report,
and only 2 said that they are able to do it. They disdained themselves. Numbers
13:30-33….Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said “Let us go at once and
take possession, for we are all able to overcome it”. In verse 31, the people
said “we are not able because in that land there are giants, we are like
grasshoppers in our own sight and so we were in their sight.” how can human
being become a grasshopper? Do not disdain yourself. Ecclesiasts 9:11….The race
is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor
riches to men of understanding…… I want you to understand that it is God that
makes things happen; do not feel that because of my background, that is reason
why I cannot get it. You must be able to say to yourself every time that I AM ABLE. We are
able to do it; we are able to possess it; we are able to take over; praise the
Lord…. Jeremiah 1: 5-8…..Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you
were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations. Then said
I; Ah, Lord God! I cannot speak for I am a youth. The Lord said “Do not say, ‘I
am a youth; for you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command
you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to
deliver you…” One thing I know is that whenever God gives a vision, He is
always in that vision; He is around that vision; and He who made a vision has
made provision for it.  You are able,
with God in your life you are able to get to your promised land; you will get
there in
the name of Jesus Christ…… if truly you are going somewhere do not disdain
yourself; do not say you cannot do it. There was a man called Ziba, who knew
that Mephibosheth will be in the king’s palace. Everything was wrong with him;
he was from the enemy of the king, because his grandfather Saul was any enemy
to David. So been an enemy to the king, there was no reason he should be in the
palace, he is supposed to be slaughtered. Secondly, he was crippled he could
not walk. It is God that makes things happen, it is not us. Who knew that John
the Baptist will shake the whole world; everything was wrong about him; his
appearance was wrong, he wore belt and animal skin with unshaved hair. He made
his ministry in the wilderness everybody goes to be baptized there; but what
made him to be outstanding was the grace of God read Matthew 3:1 to end.…… Not
the amount of money you have, it is not about your intelligence; it is not
about how well you are read; or what you have; what makes the difference is the
grace of God. When God told Moses, he is the one to deliver the children of
Israel, Exodus 3:10-12……In verse 11, Moses said “who am I that I should go to
Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” verse
12, God said “I will certainly be with you….” Stop disdaining yourself; do not
belittle yourself; it is not you doing it; it is God that supplies ability for
you; it is the Lord that supplies that strength for you; you can do all things
through God who strengthens you. Say it with me “I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME.
You can do all things; when Caleb was 85 years old, he said “40 years ago, when
Moses the servant of God, said he will give me a land here, it was because I brought
the right report from the land. But now I am 85 years and I am strong as I was
40 years ago.” He was 85 years, but he was as strong as a 40 year old. You are
able in the name of Jesus Christ……

2.
Do
not disdain others
: There are some people the Lord has
proposed for your life; do not disdain your neighbor; do not disdain those you
are meeting on the way; do not disdain those the Lord has given unto you; do
not disdain anybody. If you cannot disdain yourself, you know that you have
confidence in God yourself; you must have confidence also, in God, in some
people that God has given unto you. When Eliab saw David in the war front, he
was angry; 1 Samuel 17:28…. Eliab the oldest brother heard when he spoke to the
men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come
down here……?” he did not know that he was their deliverer; at times we disdain
our deliverer. The person the Lord has sent to you might not wear royal
apparel; the man the Lord will send to you might not drive the best car or even
drive at all. Moses was so empowered, yet he needed some people in Exodus
17:11-13…..When Moses held up his hand that Israel prevailed; and when he let
down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses hands became heavy; so they took a
stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur supported his hands
one on one side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So
Joshua defeated Amalek and his people….. Joshua was needed for Moses ministry;
Moses was not the one fighting, he was just raising his hands, Joshua was the
one fighting. Aaron and Hur were the ones holding the hands of Moses. No matter
what you are people that are in the ground might be useful to you, as long as they
are alive, they might be useful for your lifting. Do not disdain people, do not
look down on anybody; people that have nothing today might be the one taking
care of you tomorrow. God created everybody for a purpose; if we are going to
the Promised Land keep this in mind that you should not disdain yourself or
others. God took you to wherever you are today; and He is taking you to the Promised
Land. Let me say to you; nobody gets to the Promised Land by his own power, you
need the support of others. Praise the name of the Lord…..
3.
Do
not allow the flesh to rule over you
: if truly you are going
somewhere, do not allow the flesh to rule over you. The road to the promise
Land is full of temptation; at times we want to get money fast but in Ecclesiastes
3:1….To everything there is a season, a time for purpose under heaven…. We want
to get there fast, but that is not how God wants it to be; as long as we are in
the flesh we cannot please God. The people of Israel were in the flesh that is
why they said “we are not able to go there” Galatians 5:16….I say then: walk in
the spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. When you are in
the spirit, you will not fulfill the work of the flesh. Romans 8:6-8……To be carnally
minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. The carnal
mind is an enemity of God and can never be subject to the law of God. So then
those who are in the flesh cannot please God. This is the time you have to
understand that if I am in the flesh I will not get there, but I must be in the
spirit; I must think as God thinks; I must work as God works; I must do what
God says to do. Exodus 14:15-16……The Lord said to Moses, “why do you cry to Me?”
tell the children of Israel to move forward. But lift up your rod and stretch out
your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel will cross
over. You will cross over in the name of Jesus Christ….. John 4:24…… God is spirit,
and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

4.
Do
not allow what people say about you to disturb you
: Do
you know the reason some people will not get there? People have said something
against them; some people from morning to night they will just be mediating or
nursing what people say about them. Definitely the devil must always be by the
road plotting; if you continue thinking about what people say about you, it
means that you are not going to the Promised Land. Everyone going to the Promised
Land must block his or her ears from what people say about them. If you
continue to think about what people say about you; it means that you are
telling God that you are not going to the Promised Land; whatever people are
saying about you is null and void.  People
like to talk about your past because they want to weary you. Read Nehemiah from
chapter 1 to 12; in chapters 4, 5, and 6 they decided to stop him from what he
was doing; but he said “I am not going to do it.” They wrote him a letter
saying you are doing what you are doing to make yourself king over the children
of Israel that is why you are rebuilding. But he knew that was not his
intention and he did not listen or pay attention to them. When all their plots
failed; now they sent Shemaiah in Nehemiah 6:10-11…..Shemaiah was a secret
informer and he said, “Let us meet together in the house of God, within the
temple, and let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to kill
you.” Nehemiah said “Should such a man as I flee? And who is there such as I who
would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in!” people want to
stop you from what you are doing; people want to say bad things about you; you
have been wasting your time in meditating in what people say than what God says.
Judges 6:11-12….The angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said, “the Lord is
with you, you mighty man of valor!” but he did not know that there was power of
God  in him; one of the reason why we do
not  get there is because we allow what
people say to hunt us.
5.
Put
the past behind you
: Anyone that is going to the Promised
Land must put the past behind him; if you want to go forward, you have to put
the past behind you. Forgive yourself; I have made mistakes in my life, in the
past; and there is tendency for me to make some mistakes but unwittingly, not
intentionally. It is possible for me to make an error but I am not going to
dwell in my error, I am going to put my error behind me, because I know it is
an error; I am going to move forward, I am going to take another step forward. Go
and forgive yourself, you have realized that it was a mistake, does it mean
that mistake has to ruin you? God is an author of correction, He can correct
whatever. He said I will restore unto you the years that the locust has eaten;
if God is a god of restoration, I will not let my past to ruin my future;
praise the name of the Lord…. You have never been happy in your life, you are
sad, moody, and angry within yourself; you are picking on everybody because you
are sad. Isaiah 12:3……Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of
salvation. Anyone that needs blessing from God must rejoice in the Lord; Philippians
5:4…… Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say rejoice! God wants you to rejoice;
1 Thessalonian 5:16…..Rejoice always. Psalm 42:5&11…..Why are you cast
down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall
yet praise Him…. I will continue to praise my God; I will not let my past ruin
me; I have made a mistake, but I have gone above that mistake; the mistake is
behind me, and I do not see that mistake any more. Because the damages that the
mistake has caused, God has repaired it. Why do I know this? I know this
because with God all things are possible. Forgive yourself of your mistakes and
move forward.

6.
Do
not let the pressure of this world to cut you off
:
Moses was a servant of the living God; he was preparing for the Promised Land,
he did not get there because of the pressure. The people pressurized him so
much; in Numbers 20:8,10-12…..The Lord spoke to Moses to speak to the rock; he
went and gathered the people together in verse 10; he said to them, “hear now, you
rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” in verse 11, he struck
the rock; but in verse 8; God said “speak to the rock.” Instead of speaking he
struck the rock because the pressure was too much on him. The Lord said in
verse 12; because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the
children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land
which I have given them. He pleaded but God did not hear him. People have
mounted pressure on you, and that is what you are nursing every day; you have
forgotten that you are going somewhere; instead of putting that pressure
somewhere, just abandon it and move forward.
7.
Understand
the meaning of time
: The interpretation of time is as
follows: (a) time does not wait for anybody. (b) to everything there is a time
(c) time is like a clock; if the Lord has appointed your time to be 12 noon;
exactly 12pm is your time; if you were distracted and you were not able to be
where your blessing is waiting for you; then that passes. Moses acted before
his time, that was when the children of Israel were 390 years; but the Lord said
it has to be 400 years according to Genesis 15:14. In exodus 2:20; Moses moved
out before his time; read verse 5, 6-20; he killed the man instead of been a deliverer,
he became a murderer and he ran away. He waited for 40 years; you do not know
when it is your time. The bible says “in the acceptable time, I have heard you,
in the day of salvation, I have helped you” Behold now is the accepted time; behold
now is the day of salvation….2 Corinthians 6:2. Whoever wants to go to the Promised
Land must be ready to risk the journey. Look unto God do not look unto your
pressure; look unto God, do not look unto man; look unto God, do not look unto
the windstorm.
 God is looking for somebody who will not look
unto the things around him, but will look unto God. To you, O Lord I lift up my
soul. O my God, I trust in you; let me not be ashamed; let not my enemies triumph
over me…….Psalm 25:1-2. Your enemies will not rejoice over you in the name of
Jesus….. You will never be put to shame in the name of Jesus Christ….. This is
your time; the time to move from your present position. You have skirted enough
in this mountain, move northward …..Deuteronomy 2:3. This is the time for you
to forward. This is the time to acquire your wealth; you will get there in the
name of Jesus….. Put your trust in God and believe in Him that He is going to
do it; yes you can get there.
